Visit on Tuesday 14th September 2010

Longer Hall is a privately owned Tudor Gothic styled house designed by John Nash in 1803. It is set in a park landscaped by Humphrey Repton. The home of one family for over 700 years its principal rooms are adorned with plaster fan vaulting and stained glass. We will have coffee at a local hotel before arrival at Longer Hall where we will be given a guided tour of the house by the present owners before viewing the gardens.

Very close to Longer Hall is Attingham Park, a late 18th century house built for the first Lord Berwick in 1785. Lord Berwick and his two elder sons had a passion for art and music which may be viewed in the picture gallery with its fine paintings and a Samuel Green organ. The house contains beautiful Italian furniture and a large silver collection. The landscaped park was designed by Humphrey Repton. Upon arrival we will be given a 15 minute introductory talk.
