The history of Venice is a colourful and fascinating one and we will be looking at architecture and paintings from the 5th century AD right through to modern times.
Renaissance buildings by Palladio and Sansovino and paintings by Carpaccio Tiepolo and Longhi will be shown in relation to the city's position as a great renaissance centre for the Arts. We will explore Venice's rise to greatness and finally the new challenges posed by rising sea and modern tourism .
