Women Silversmiths and Goldsmiths

This lecture will examine the extensive involvement of women in the silver and gold trade from the medieval period onwards. Did they simply continue to run their late husbands’ businesses or were they actually involved directly in the making of pieces? All will be revealed.
Mr Pickford is Freeman of the Goldsmith’s Company and Freeman of the City of London. He lectures at the University of London, University of Surrey, V&A, National Trust and the Art Fund. He broadcasts on television and radio.
